Sensors into the hands of millions of people |

I stumbled across this article which was quite an interesting read. It’s about the next generation game-consoles which will be released next months. They will introduce a new way of playing videogames with motion sensors:
“The technology behind motion-sensing has been around for a while, but recent technical advances have brought down the price — and the size. The new game controllers are the first gadgets that promise to bring the technology into the hands of millions of people, and manufacturers now are using motion sensors in other consumer products, including cell phones.” It’s a different type of technology then I have in mind, but it’s good to hear that these concepts evolve and get in reach for everyone out there. For my research this proves that the step for advertising can’t be big. Also an inspirational way of thinking about interaction design regarding a cell phone: “Nokia this year launched a "sports" cell phone, the 5500, with an accelerometer that not only controls a game, but works as a pedometer as well. Other potential uses for such a chip in a phone include managing the user interface: Pat the phone or flip it over to send a call to voicemail.”
Nice idea for linking an interface to a logical motion.
