My project: For the people that have absolutely no idea of what I’m trying to accomplish or research: a short lineout of my proof of concept. I will try to make an interactive billboard, that can be displayed in the shopping malls or train stations. Technically I try to accomplish this with a screen. The content on this screen is provided by a old normal pc that runs Flash. Flash reads the values from the Arduino Board that is connected to sensors around the screen. The kind of sensors depend on the concept I design. The stuff I could use as input for content comes down to: - Touch - Proximity / Position - Size - Temperature - Light / Darkness - Moisten Level - Sound - Movement - Weight Think for example that I would design a concept where the position of a person according to my billboard will be measured. Yielding these values I could play different movie clips in Flash. This way I could – for example – advertise a horror movie in a video store, where a customer is invited to get closer to the screen by a movie character. When he eventually is, he gets shocked by a scary action of the character and additional info about the flick is shown. The possibilities of the concepts are only limited by the creativity of the designer. ![]() This baby can read sensors and input the values into Flash for example In my research I’d like to find out if electronics combined with new media can have an added value in advertising by adding interaction - plus - which creative possibilities this exposes. Currently I don’t have much to refer to, and will be performing research in an uncultivated area. In respond to the question how I differentiate to Alex’s thesis subject: it’s really pretty close to what I’m trying to research, since he’s researching the possibilities of new technologies within advertising, and mine might be one. His subject might be broader then mine, but I feel like my thesis could be a part of his research. Ga door met lezen van "Thesis Project Lineout"
