Gesture controlled robot

Gesture based system interactions seem to surface now and then lately, and the project of this Tokyo University engineer Tsuyoshi Horo is another example of that.

 

Technically he has put a circular array of cameras to detect body movement. This results in a real-time 3D volumetric model of himself that is converted to virtual cubes. By analyzing these cubes as data, gestures can be extracted. More info..

Touchless 3D Interface

The Norwegian company Elliptic Labs has a new type of interface ready that they call:

"touchless human / machine user interface for 3D navigation."


Interactions up until 1,5 meter could be tracked. According to Norwegians, it’s easy scalable for the use on mobile phones. The demo shown above is for high precision tracking on mobile devices.
